Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026. This policy applies to this language version of the site and to its quiz, etymology, and explanatory pages.

This site is a free Japanese vocabulary practice tool. It doesn't require you to register an account, and it doesn't charge you to use its core features. Please read this policy before you use the site. If you don't agree with it, please stop using the site. For the rules that govern your use of the site, see the Terms of Service.

1. What Information We Collect and How We Use It

The vocabulary sets you select on the "Search and Select Words" page, along with any content temporarily held on the page before you import or export it, are stored only in your browser's Local Storage on this device (for example, under the key ). This data is not uploaded to our servers when you click "Add to Quiz," and we have no account database that could link it to your name, email address, or phone number.

As a result, clearing your browser's site data, using a private window, or switching to a different computer or browser means your list won't carry over automatically. If you need to move to another device, please use the "Export/Import Quiz" feature on the page. You are responsible for keeping your export file safe. We don't back it up for you, and we can't recover Local Storage data that has been cleared.

While this site's pages are hosted, the host or content delivery network may still generate connection logs as part of normal website operation, such as IP addresses, browser types, referring URLs, and visit times. These logs are used to keep the service stable and to prevent abuse. They are not used to build personal profiles for sale to others, and we do not sell personal data.

If you report an issue through our GitHub repository, that platform handles your account and the content you post under its own policies. Please don't include personal information in your report that you don't want made public.

2. Use of Cookies

Your quiz sets are remembered through Local Storage, not through a login cookie set by this site. This site doesn't use member cookies.

However, when your browser loads this site, third-party services may set or read cookies. These mainly include:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, your quiz sets will still work (because they're stored in Local Storage), but traffic statistics and ads may not function properly, and some embedded content may also be affected.

3. Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to serve ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other sites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet, including personalized ads. We can't control how Google matches individual ads to you.

You can opt out of personalized advertising or learn more about how Google uses data:

Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland may also see a consent message provided by Google. That message is displayed by the ad system, and Google stores your choice under its own consent mechanism. If you decline personalized ads, you may still see generic, non-personalized ads. This doesn't affect your use of the site's vocabulary quiz system.

4. Children and Non-Essential Data

This site's content is intended for Japanese learners and is not a service designed specifically for children, and we do not knowingly collect names or contact information from children. Please don't include other people's sensitive personal information in quiz export files or issue reports.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may revise this policy because of new features, advertising partnerships, or legal requirements. The revised version will be posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Unless stated otherwise, revisions take effect when posted. If a revision materially changes how we handle Local Storage or advertising cookies, we'll highlight it prominently on this page. By continuing to use the site after a revision is posted, you acknowledge that you've had the opportunity to read the new version. Because the site has no accounts, we won't email each visitor individually about changes.
